The student's finished works were pretty much identical to what you see here. Many (if not most) have a sound element and some are entirely interactive. Note that these are not commercial pieces, but for educational use only; see www.rabideye.com for more... Each movie will open in a single new window. All projects were produced using Flash CS3 Professional in a 2-hour or so step-by-step process with loads of tricks and tips thrown in along the way. They require the Flash Player to be viewed. You probably have it already. Try out the blue links below, and if they do not work for you, just download the free Flash Player :: click here
About Teaching Animation and Flash
Flash has always been an exciting tool, enabling even beginner users to quickly produce animation. This allows for almost immediate gratification, which is all-important to encouraging students to stick it out and improve the skills needed for the much more complex interactive/ multimedia aspects of the program, if that is a goal. Having taught animation and Flash for over 10 years, and to over 1000 people, I know the typical pit-falls, and can direct students around them, as well as show them why the program does what it does. The program is simply a tool that can be used -- along with basic animation skills that are practically and cognitively acquired -- to produce amazing work! The application enables easy web distribution, so they work can be accessed by all. Sites like Youtube.com and an ever-increasing list of Flash-integrated and Flash-only websites show what can be done using this tool, from experimental work to commercial applications. Try out Flash and see what you make of it: www.flash.com . Here is a compilation of Flash animation done through a 2-day workshop at the most recent Powell River Film Festival, that I oversaw.
Below are some recent animated and interactive pieces prepared for one-on-one, step-by-step tutoring.
